My focus on this essay will be the short story of Raymond's Run, it was a story that I didn't really like, bcause it had an incomplete plot. Also it had unrealistic characters, this all made this short story confusing and not interesting.
I thought that this short story was not interesting because the characters were unrealistic, preety flat and not open minded. For example, Squeaky believed that she was perfect, which made me not really like her, being so brazen. Even at the end of the story, when she "gave up" running, she was still insisting that she was good at everything. Also, Gretchen, the antagonist, didn't change much, she kept the same mindset throughout the story. I did grab some sympathy for Raymond though, as he was a nice person that didn't really hurt anyone or cause conflicts. These characters, with their way of being, made the story not take course.
I also tought that this story had an incomplete plot because it didn't follow a correct plot line, for example, it didn't follow the ending, when Squeaky "gave up" running, it didn't really come to any resolution, or anything, it just really happens in Squeaky's head. She didn't talk about it to Gretchen, neither to Raymond, thye end is basically incomplete. Also, It was missing a rising action, she just instantly went from being brazen to empathy out of nowhere. I thought that this was unrealistic and didn't make sense. I also didn´t like the ending, even if she had carries out everything. Maybe if she had lost the race, and learned to be a good loser, the ending and resolution of giving up running would have made more sense, also made the story more interesting.
My final Conclusion is that the story overall, was incomplete, it was missing a rising action and a proper ending, it didn´t really conlude anything. This made the story boring, not interesting, also caused by the flat characters that didn't carry out the action. I didn't really like the story because of this reasons.
